I’ve always loved reading books. They have the ability to take us places we have never been, give us experiences of which we have only dreamed, and fuel our innermost passions. But for me, it goes even further than that. I not only love to read, I love to write. In fact, writing is my passion; it's where I find fulfillment. The world of words centers me and helps bring my life back into focus. It's my creative outlet and continually renews my connection with my mind, body, and spirit.
I spent 14 years as an educator and during that time, writing became a part of who I am. My two children inspired me to create a children’s book when they began exploring in our yard one sunny afternoon. Watching their excitement, I scratched down a story about a treasure hunt, which I read to them. They enjoyed it so much that I decided to have it published. But Treasure Hunt proved to be just the beginning. A few months later, my family and I ventured on a journey far away from family and friends. Looking to bring my own life into focus, I began writing once again. The story poured out of me and once it was finished, I knew it was meant to be shared. The Refuge is a story of struggle and triumph showing that through it all, we will endure.
